Super Kena: A Girl Made Fierce with Hearing Aids is an uplifting children’s book by Becky Cymbaluk with illustrations by Zuzana Svobodova. Kena is a courageous young girl who wears hearing aids to help her hear. Some of her classmates do not understand this and tease Kena and others in her class for seeming to be different. With support and encouragement from her mother, Kena decides to show her classmates how she and her fellow students are strengthened and made more powerful by their challenges. Inspired by the author’s granddaughter, this story radiates positivity and highlights the resilient and wise nature of children. Beautiful and colorful illustrations accompany this heartfelt story. A fun activity involving sign language is also included for readers.
Super Kena shares the heartwarming story of a young girl who thrives when presented with life’s challenges. Kena is comfortable and confident in wearing her hearing aids and although she could have easily reacted with anger to her classmate’s bullying, she chooses a positive and constructive way to deal with this issue.
